President
Tarik AlAbbasi is the President of Water & Beyond, responsible for the company’s strategic direction, governance, and key decision-making. He actively coordinates the work of chief consultants and oversees complex environmental and sustainability-driven projects.
Tarik personally knew Sady Ricardo dos Santos Filho and engaged with him in ideological conversations about ecology, environmental responsibility, and the future of human–nature relations. Although they did not work together formally, these exchanges deeply influenced Tarik’s alignment with the founding vision of Water & Beyond.
With nearly four decades of experience in environmental conservation, ecosystem restoration, and sustainable development, Tarik brings strong scientific depth and institutional leadership to the company, particularly in arid and semi-arid environments. Under his leadership, Water & Beyond expanded beyond Brazil, consolidating its international presence in the Middle East and translating its founding ecological philosophy into large-scale, operational environmental action.
Message from the Founder
Water & Beyond is the materialization of a long-standing vision rooted in the life’s work of its conceptual founder, Sady Ricardo dos Santos Filho — agronomist engineer, researcher, and passionate advocate for nature.
Sady served as president of the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa), contributing to the development, patenting, and dissemination of innovations always guided by environmental preservation. He also led the Center for Environmental Research, Preservation and Development (Cepeda), reinforcing his commitment to applied science, long-term planning, and sustainability grounded in ecological balance.
In 2013, Sady left a legacy of scientific rigor, ethical responsibility, and deep respect for natural systems. His thinking — centered on restoring degraded landscapes, respecting arid and semi-arid ecosystems, and aligning human development with ecological limits — has continued to inspire environmental strategies beyond Brazil. This ideological foundation resonates with and has conceptually contributed to initiatives such as Greening Arabia, which seek large-scale land restoration, regeneration of desert ecosystems, and a renewed relationship between society and nature.
Water & Beyond carries this legacy forward by advancing projects inspired by his vision, promoting regenerative solutions that mitigate human impact and honor Mother Nature.
One of Our Key Consultants
Ernst Götsch is a Swiss farmer and researcher, internationally recognized as a pioneer of Syntropic Agriculture — a regenerative agroforestry system that reconciles productivity with ecological restoration. After moving to Brazil in the early 1980s, he dedicated more than four decades to restoring degraded landscapes through biodiverse, successional systems.
Grounded in natural forest dynamics, Syntropic Agriculture enhances soil fertility, biodiversity, and water cycles through stratified plant communities and ecological succession. Götsch’s work has demonstrated that degraded soils can be rapidly regenerated, creating resilient ecosystems that deliver food, biomass, and environmental services.
Based on his experience in Southern Bahia and other regions, Ernst Götsch continues to share his knowledge globally through workshops, courses, and consultancy, contributing to the advancement of regenerative land-use practices worldwide.

MEWA National Afforestation Strategy (2021) – Scientific Leadership & Strategic Framework Development
Water & Beyond was selected as the principal scientific and strategic contributor for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s comprehensive afforestation framework, under the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA). Through advanced modeling, multi-scalar environmental diagnostics, and participatory design, we authored the technical foundations and spatial intelligence to guide afforestation across 17 distinct ecological environments—from urban zones and wadis to mangroves, rangelands and inland marshes. The deliverables included climate and hydrological simulation models, ecological zoning maps, native species allocation, succession strategies, carbon sequestration estimates, and a national afforestation implementation plan. Our approach combined cutting-edge environmental science with digital platforms and governance tools, and was formally approved by MEWA as the official reference for future national programs. NEOM Habitat Restoration (2022) - Strategic Leadership and Authorship. This project represents a core demonstration of Water & Beyond's direct technical leadership and multidisciplinary orchestration capacity. We delivered comprehensive environmental and strategic studies to establish the scientific, ecological, and operational foundations for the long-term NEOM Habitat Restoration Program. Our role was one of primary authorship and strategic direction, ensuring the integration of cutting-edge science into actionable, large-scale planning, directly supporting the Saudi Green Initiative (SGI).
